DECA Month

Author:

This November will once again be the best month to show your DECA spirit! As the DECA year continues to roll, DECA month will be a 30-day celebration of everything that is amazing about our organization!
Take advantage of DECA month to plan out your chapter’s own DECA week, or promote DECA all month long. This is your chance to show your school and community the skills and benefits of your chapter. Share the spirit of DECA with more students to give them the same opportunities that you’ve been afforded as a member, and ensure that they can prepare themselves for college and careers while having a blast. From decorating your entire school in blue and white, to hosting a “Dress for Success Day” with all members decked out in professional attire, the sky is the limit in promoting our organization.
Throughout DECA month, as well as the rest of the year, be sure to use #IamDECA on all social media platforms to share photos from all things DECA that you’re involved in. This year’s international DECA theme is all about us, so show the entire world why #IamDECA!
With great success in previous years, chapters can once again gain recognition and ICDC allocations by completing DECA’s chapter campaigns. The Membership Campaign, Promotional Campaign, Community Service Campaign, and Global Entrepreneurship Week Campaigns are key opportunities for chapters to showcase the events and recruitment efforts which are already underway at local chapters. If your chapter is searching for activities to structure your year around, completing DECA’s chapter campaigns is an excellent way to lay out a basic outline for your chapter’s outreach efforts. California DECA has ideas to help you fulfill campaign requirements in the “POW and Campaign Ideas” resource at www.californiadeca.org/resources_new.php.
Meeting specific requirements and submitting your chapter’s activities can earn you recognition at the international level in addition to more spots for chapter members to attend the Thrive Academy at ICDC in Orlando, Florida! A full description of DECA’s chapter campaigns as well as submission instructions can be found at www.deca.org/page/campaigns. Don’t forget that all activities must be reported by November 1, 2014 to be recognized by DECA, Inc.
Happy DECA month!
