A Look Back on NorCal LDC

Author: California DECA

On Saturday, October 29th, Northern California DECA hosted its annual District Leadership Development Conference (LDC). Unlike last year, this year’s conference was a single day event held at the University of California, Berkeley where State President, Moksh Jawa, Vice President of Communications, Lenexa Gonsalves, and Vice President of Northern California, Yash Desai, led activities and workshops to help members own their leadership skills.
With nearly two hundred members and chapter officers in attendance, attendees were split into three groups that rotated between activities. Members challenged themselves with the mind-twisting Labyrinth, gained teamwork expertise with field activities, and participated in workshops on communications and competition.
The Own Your Social Media workshop provided a detailed explanation on how to effectively use various forms of social media to promote and engage the targeted audience. It gave members a chance to either create new ideas, or adjust existing social media plans to drive engagement.
The Own Your Competition workshop gave members a new perspective on competitive strategies and aimed to help students improve not just their role play and test skills, but also their speaking and interview skills.
While the weather may have put a damper on some of the outdoor activities, NorCal DECA members used it as an opportunity to focus on what was within our control, and still have a great time!
