Author: California DECA

As 2017 begins, it’s not only the start of a new year… it’s also the start of the DECA competitive season! Our District Career Development Conferences are looming right around the corner, and we are excited for you all to attend! These conferences will be held in their respective districts:

  • Silicon Valley – January 5-7, 2018 in Santa Clara, CA
  • Northern California – January 12-14, 2018 in San Ramon, CA
  • Southern California – January 12-14, 2018 in Anaheim, CA

Below are three ways to have a fantastic District CDC experience:

1. Prepare for Your Events

The competitive aspect of these conference are some of the first opportunities that members have to present and compete in their events while receiving valuable feedback. While performance at District CDCs don’t determine your attendance to State Career Development Conference, the feedback received from your judges are crucial in helping your competitive success! With that in mind, keep on fine-tuning your events – whether through studying performance indicators or editing your written – so that you can show your best and win the DECA glass!

2. Get Ready to Network

Each respective conference in their districts are filled with different high schools. Make sure to use this opportunity to NETWORK! Meet other members from different schools, connect about your DECA stories, celebrate at each others’ accomplishments, and who knows… you might be making a lifelong friend!

3. Make the Most of Every Opportunity

Outside of competition, the district conferences are also filled with other opportunities and events. Get involved in your district’s talent show, have fun during our social activity, and snap pictures for our social media challenge! Participating in these events will maximize your enjoyment and get you filled with the DECA spirit!
